Budgets and Republicans

I hope it's abundantly clear to everyone now that the GOP has released there budget that they really don't care about YOU.  It's all about playing to there core conservative values while pretending that these cuts are actually meaningful.  In other words, it's just an opportunity to make there contributors happy at the expense of those who really need help and at the same time give the finger to those elitists who go to college and listen to NPR.  Oh and why not trash any programs which are intended to keep people safe from such nasty things as salmonella?  While we are at it, let's reemphasize that we are the anti science party and defund any control of greenhouse gas emissions since global warming is just not good science.

My alternative proposals are to cut funding for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, cut ALL bribery - er Foreign Aid (especially to Pakistan).  Cut ALL subsidies for oil and gas,  eliminate the health care program for congress.  What else?  How about a serious commission to make binding recommendations for Medicare and Medicaid.  Oh and how about the administration going on national TV to admit that the government owes Social Security a lot of money that has been spent from the trust fund and that Social Security is NOT broke.

Just some thoughts.

Coming Around

After getting into semi-shape I was sick for 2 weeks in January, so off the bike again.  I continued to lift, but cut back to 1 day/week.  I'm now going hard again, although I still have a pretty bad cough occasionally.  Last week was my first 100 mile week of the year (pretty early for that) with 4 training rides.  I felt good, but I have to confess that I'm not really getting enough intensity yet.  I'm lucky to see 150BPM on the high end, but am able to average 130BPM, which isn't too shabby.  I may stay at 1 day for lifting and use Wednesday as another training day to get ready for Spring.  I'm doing Spinervals (2 last week) plus the Power workouts and spinning class.  My plan is to get out in the Spring and regularly do hill repeats on the hills that gave me a lot of trouble last year.
