Hard Riding Soon

Since losing most of my fitness (read speed) in September and October, I've been building back slowly (very slowly) to where I was in mid September (which, to be honest, wasn't all that great).  I'm lifting again, twice a week, and using more weight than last year.  I noticed a slight improvement in leg strength soon after I started lifting and that was with only half the weight I'm at now.  I have finally started to get my heart rate up over the last 2 weeks, hitting 140-150 several times.  This isn't too bad for indoors where I struggled to do mid 160's even when I was riding faster.  I plan to start Spinervals after the New Year, so we'll see then just how bad I am and what I need to do to get better.  My goal is to get up the hills early in the ride with the group this year instead of being a drag on everybody.  I'll be doing some sort of interval training twice a week from now on.
