Last Dat for XC Skiing
Considering that the paltry 6 inches of snow has been around for awhile, the skiing today was really good. The snow was fast with very good kick. It's been so cold that the snow has maintained it's character for something like 3 weeks. It warmed up today though and will get even warmer, so it's bye bye snow for awhile.

Hard Riding Soon
Since losing most of my fitness (read speed) in September and October, I've been building back slowly (very slowly) to where I was in mid September (which, to be honest, wasn't all that great). I'm lifting again, twice a week, and using more weight than last year. I noticed a slight improvement in leg strength soon after I started lifting and that was with only half the weight I'm at now. I have finally started to get my heart rate up over the last 2 weeks, hitting 140-150 several times. This isn't too bad for indoors where I struggled to do mid 160's even when I was riding faster. I plan to start Spinervals after the New Year, so we'll see then just how bad I am and what I need to do to get better. My goal is to get up the hills early in the ride with the group this year instead of being a drag on everybody. I'll be doing some sort of interval training twice a week from now on.
